Stir-Fried Pork with Holy Basil is a popular dish all over the country because of its taste and simple stir-fry cooking technique. Popular with foreigners, the dish uses Thai ingredients and seasoning, but Chinese cooking methods.


Nutrition

The ingredients of the dish are high in nutrients. Holy basil leaves contain beta carotene and vitamin C which relieves stomach aches and nausea. Pork is high in protein which is good for the growth system. Chilies contain capsaicin which helps in reducing blood sugar. Garlic contains organosulfur which fights some kinds of bacteria that lead to a risk of cancer.

Ingredient

150 grams diced pork
50 grams straw mushroom (optional)
10 grams chopped bird chilies
10 grams chopped garlic
20 grams holy basil leaves
1 tbsp. fish sauce
¼ tsp. sugar
2 tbsp. oil for flying
3 tbsp. stock


How-to

1. Clean the straw mushrooms and cut them in half or four pieces depending upon its size.
2. Pound the chilies and garlic in a mortar.
3. Heat the oil, and then add the chilies and garlic, followed by the pork, and fry until the meat is cooked. Add the mushrooms with some stock and fry until cooked through.
4. Season with fish sauce and sugar. Add the holy basil leaves and stir briefly.
5. Remove from the heat and serve on a plate.
